Nitrogenaza (EC 1.18.6.1, Nitrogenase) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom redukovani feredoksin:dinitrogen oksidoreduktaza (ATP-hidroliza).[1][2][3][4] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju

8 redukovani feredoksin + 8 H+ + N2 + 16 ATP + 16H2O {\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons } 8 oksidovani feredoksin + H2 + 2 NH3 + 16 ADP + 16 fosfat

Za dejstvo ovog enzim je neohodan Mg2+. On se sastoji od dva proteina. Oni se mogu razdvojiti. Oba proteina su neophodna za nitrogenazno dejstvo.
