Conan Barbarul (din engleză Conan the Barbarian, cunoscut și sub denumirea Conan Cimerianul) este un personaj fictiv dintr-o serie de scrieri fantastice de Robert E. Howard.
El este un erou[1][2], un personaj bine cunoscut și o figură iconică americană. Conan este cel mai renumit barbar din ficțiune[3]. S-a născut în Cimeria și a fost creat de Robert E. Howard ca succesor spiritual al unui personaj anterior, Kull din Atlantida sau Kull Cuceritorul[4]. Luni de zile, Howard a fost în căutarea unui nou personaj cu care să aibă succes pe piața revistelor pulp care a început să se dezvolte în Statele Unite la începutul anilor 1930. În octombrie 1931, Howard a prezentat o povestire denumită "People of the Dark" pentru noua revista Strange Tales (iunie 1932). "People of the Dark" este o poveste despre viețile anterioare, în care protagonistul descrie una din încarnările sale anterioare: Conan, un erou barbar cu părul negru care jură credință pe o divinitate numită Crom[5].
Universul imaginar în care are loc acțiunea din lucrările cu Conan este denumit vârstă hyboriană. Cronologic este plasat între scufundarea Atlantidei și apariția civilizațiilor antice[6].
