La rivalità calcistica Liverpool-Manchester United, nota anche come North-West Derby (in italiano "Derby del Nord-Ovest"), è la rivalità che oppone le due squadre di calcio più titolate d'Inghilterra, il Liverpool e il Manchester United.

Nonostante non possa essere indicato come un derby vero e proprio secondo i criteri generali (si affrontano squadre di città differenti), nell'immaginario collettivo è divenuto l'incontro più sentito da entrambe le tifoserie, nonché uno dei più famosi a livello europeo e mondiale.[1]

Storia

Il primo North-West Derby si è disputato sotto forma di semplice amichevole, prima ancora dell'origine dei campionati professionistici; il match si è svolto il 28 aprile 1894 e si è concluso 2-0 in favore del Liverpool.

La vittoria più larga del Liverpool consiste in un 7-0 del 5 marzo 2023,[2] mentre quella del Manchester United è un 5-0 dell'11 settembre 1946. La partita con più gol tra le due formazioni si è disputata il 25 marzo 1908 ed è terminata con il punteggio di 7-4 per i Reds.
