The Nun's Priest's Tale

"The Nun's Priest's Tale of the Cock and the Hen, Chanticleer and Partlet" (bahasa Inggris Pertengahan: The Nonnes Preestes Tale of the Cok and the Hen, Chauntecleer and Pertelote) adalah salah satu kisah dalam The Canterbury Tales karya Geoffrey Chaucer.

Chanticleer, seekor ayam jantan, bermimpi buruk mengenai rubah. Ketakutan, ia membuat Partlet, salah satu dari tujuh istrinya, terbangun. Partlet meyakinkannya bahwa Chanticleer hanya bermimpi. Chanticleer lalu menceritakan kisah mengenai orang yang melihat mimpi kematiannya, dan mimpi itu menjadi kenyataannya. Chanticleer lalu ditenangkan oleh Partlet dan menyambut hari baru.

Mimpi Chanticleer ternyata benar. Seekor rubah datang dan menyatakan ingin mendengar kokok Chanticleer yang indah. Ketika Chanticleer menutup matanya dan hendak berkokok, ia ditangkap oleh rubah.

Si rubah membawa Chanticleer ke hutan. Chanticleer lalu mengusulkan pada rubah untuk berhenti dan memberitahu pengejarnya untuk menyerah. Sang predator lalu hendak mengejek pengejarnya, tetapi Chanticleer menggunakan kesempatan itu untuk melarikan diri ke atas pohon. Si rubah mencoba meyakinkan Chanticleer, tetapi ia tidak mau tertipu dua kali.
